Vinci had won her last six matches, including the title run last week in Bogota. Pennetta was last year's Acapulco runner-up to German Anna-Lena Groenefeld, who titled here in 2005 and was also the runner-up here in 2004. Sara Errani rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Kaia Kanepi and Melissa Torres Sandoval breezed into the third round with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Eva Birnerova. The 2007 winner here will claim $25,845.
