Left-handed pitcher Ross Detwiler was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list after missing 30 games due to a hip injury. He is 0-2 with a 3.46 ERA in three big league starts this season. Washington also designated catcher Carlos Maldonado for assignment on Tuesday. He was 3-for-11 with a home run and three runs batted in over four games this season and is a career .185 hitter over 54 at-bats with the Pirates and Nats in parts of three different seasons.
